Well, how exhausting!! Visiting thousands of suppliers packed into a kilometer long building for 3 days in mid May is not the best of fun, but an opportunity not to be missed for me. Since opening up almost a year ago, my range has developed organically, but I needed to look at new products to fill in any gaps (mainly from my current suppliers) and also a range of wines that I could wholesale to my growing number of trade customers.
Lots of new wines on the retail side. I was especially pleased with the Hope ‘Cracker’ Cabernet Merlot from Western Australia at £9.99, Los Espinos Chilean Merlot at £5.99 and Martin Codax Albarino at £9.99.
Plenty of bin-end bargains at the moment from several suppliers. The trade is tough for importers at the moment, with a combination of increasing duty, pretty poor exchange rates and the on-trade restaurant sector generally not doing so well. With stock to clear smaller independants like myself can nip in and out, picking up plenty of bargains. Check out the bin end section on the wine page for current stock.
